The agriculture mechanization class constructed miniature bike fenders to learn about metal shaping. Bob Foster, who uses his metal shaping skills to restore and customize cars, came in to share his tools and knowledge with the class. The students learned the difference between metal shaping and forming as well as how to properly use an English wheel, planishing hammer, and a shrinker/stretcher. The students created compound curves from flat sheet metal through understanding the concepts of shaping metal and foreseeing the results of shrinking and stretching metal. Overall, the students were able to successfully apply their skills from class.
