On December 23, 2015 the Rushville-Industry FFA chapter visited the Schneider Nursing home located in Rushville, Illinois. A few of the officers Marissa Lung, Madison Plummer, Kyle Whitaker and the two advisors, Grace Foster and Morris Mcleland, were there to hand out blankets to the residents. The members of the FFA made the blankets at their December chapter meeting. The residents were very excited and thankful to receive the blankets. Author: Kyle Whitaker

On January 8th, Rushville-Industry FFA Alumni member, Dalton Shepherd, visited the Agriculture Business class as a guest speaker. The students concluded topics on the three agribusiness sectors, agribusiness structures, starting a business, and entrepreneurship. Dalton shared his experiences from his job with Burrus. The students had many questions for him regarding college, what it takes to become an entrepreneur, and business advice. Overall, the students gained insightful knowledge from a local professional which helped make the classroom content relevant and engaging.
On October 6, 2015 the Rushville-Industry FFA chapter hosted the Section 11 Land Use contest. The location of the contest was off of the Vermont Blacktop on Sullivan’s land. The contest consists of judging different soil types and how fertile the soil is. Students identify whether it could flood or if it is a level spot. There were 12 schools present and a total of 23 teams. Rushville had 7 students participating. Marissa Lung scored the highest score from Rushville, placing in the top 50. The chapter team placed 20th. -Author: Chloe France On November 19th 2015, four students attended the Section 11 Ag Sales contest. The purpose was to sell a zero turn John Deere lawn mower. The team prepared a 6 step sales pitch for a committee of judges. This included detailed product information, product promotion, services, and pricing. We all had a great time!
