On Monday, May 16th 4 students attended the Section 11 Banquet in Liberty, Illinois. At the Banquet 4 RIHS FFA members were recognized for receiving their State Degree. Additionally, the Rushville-Industry FFA chapter was awarded the Gold Chapter Award. FFA member, Marissa Lung, ran for a Section 11 Office and was elected as the 2016-2017 Section 11 Treasurer. Marissa will work with Section officers from surrounding schools to continue the success of Section 11. Congratulations Marissa! We are proud of you! Thanks to Megan S. and her Chihuahua puppy, the Agriculture Science class was able to practice some newly gained veterinary science skills in class. The students practiced taking vitals, observing mobility, documenting behavior, and recording heart rates. Following the activity, the students practiced writing as a veterinary technician. Students chose from various types of patient record styles such as current health status, patient assessment, and technician evaluation. On May 6th, 35 Rushville-Industry FFA Members came out to the square to share their agricultural knowledge with kids from the community. The weather was perfect and the turn out was great! FFA members were responsible for providing soda and popcorn to kids, helping kids up and down tractors, guiding kids through a chore run, and bringing their livestock for a petting zoo. This year our petting zoo included a mule, a horse, sheep, pigs, goats, a rabbit, ducks, chickens, and even fish! The students were able to share their livestock experiences with the kids and promote agriculture for a day. |
